CURRICULUM
Vision
Nurturing creativity, curiosity and community through a heritage rich curriculum.
Curriculum Rationale
We believe that a curriculum should be tailored to the needs of the children the school serves. As such, our curriculum not only incorporates the statutory elements of the National Curriculum, but is also focused on developing children’s creativity and curiosity. The rich heritage of the locality weaves through the curriculum so all children develop a strong understanding of their unique place in the local, national, and world-wide community.
We aim for all children to be curious, motivated, aspirational, able to think creatively about their learning and experiences, communicate clearly through spoken and written language and express their thoughts and feelings through a variety of media.
We aim for all children to be equipped for the next stage of life and learning in terms of knowledge, skills, and understanding. Alongside this, we aim for all children to understand how to look after their physical and mental health and wellbeing. We aim for all children to develop resilience, independence, a clear sense of self, a confidence to speak out and a connection with modern Britain and the wider world.
We provide a coherently planned and sequenced curriculum underpinned by the following aspects;
Developing creativity
Igniting curiosity
Raising aspirations
Building resilience
Fostering independence
Embracing diversity
Valuing and using the local area and heritage
